Large and small red pearled initials, red paragraph marks and capital strokes (some dampstaining and toning; worming affecting text). Contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, brass catchplates, title in ink on fore-edge, reused manuscript quire guards (upper joint repaired, with portions of the spine and other surfaces renewed, bosses renewed, straps renewed, wormed). Provenance: marginalia – Wimpfen, Dominicans (inscription) – Comte Chandon de Briailles (either Raoul, 1850-1908, or his two sons François and Henri, founders of the eponymous champagne house; bookplate) – acquired from Bernard M.
