HORWOOD, Richard. Plan of the Cities of London and Westminster, the Borough of Southwark and Parts Adjoining shewing Every House . London: R. Horwood, 24 May 1799. 2° containing the 32 sectional maps pasted four together to form 8 'panoramas' (659 x 2036mm). Hand-coloured engraved map by Ash, Spear and J.T., hand-coloured contemporary manuscript key-map showing the eight sections pasted inside front cover, on the endpaper facing a manuscript explanation of the composition of the map (a few blank corners frayed or cut away, occasional light discolouration). Contemporary half calf (worn). FIRST EDITION, issue dated 1799, of this fine map of London at a scale of twenty-five inches to the mile. This belongs to the same issue as lot number 335 with no list of subscribers on G4. Further editions appeared in 1807, 1813 and 1819 and a facsimile, with an introduction by James Howgego, was published in 1966. Howgego 200.
