Point Counterpoint has been described as 'almost a novel without a story' about the artistic and literary life of London in the twenties (L. Brander. Aldous Huxley: A Critical Study , 1969), and compared with Vanity Fair . Written through characters and conversation rather than as a narrative, in the latter part increasingly exaggerated episodes move towards a melodramatic crime story.
