Autograph postcard signed ('Rudyard Kipling') to an unidentified recipient ('Dear Madam'), 22 rue Varenne, Paris, n.d., replying to a letter about the dead of the First World War, 'I like you know scores of young men who have died... clearing the way that those who followed might win' and commenting on the award of honours: 'the honours side of the game is the merest chance & luck', one page, 8vo ; [ with ] H.G. WELLS (1866-1946). Autograph card signed to Vere Collins, Grindelwald, 7 June [19]05, expressing 'much regret I'm away from all books, but you will probably find the figures in the British Encyl, the Statesman Year Book & Whittaker', three lines below view of the Gummihorn and Eiger.
