KLH Model 20 Stereophonic Music System, KHL Research and Development Corporation, Cambridge, Massachusetts, c. 1960, designed by Henry Kloss, Garrard turntable with integrated FM receiver, two floor speakers and two bookshelf speaker; includes original owner's manual, Instructions for Setting Up the KLH Model 20 and a copy of Hugo Rignold directing The London Philharmonic performing Ravel's "Bolero" and Dukas's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" on a 33 1/3 rpm record. Note: Henry Kloss (1929-2002) was a prominent American audio engineer and entrepreneur who helped advance high fidelity loudspeaker and radio receiver technology beginning in the 1950s. Kloss was an undergraduate student in physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but never received a degree. He was responsible for a number of innovations, including, in part, the acoustic suspension loudspeaker and the high fidelity cassette deck. In 2000, Kloss was one of the first inductees into the Consumer Electronics Association's Hall of Fame. He earned an Emmy Award for his development of a projection television system, the Advent VideoBeam 1000. In addition to KLH Research and Development Corporation, Kloss went on to found Advent, Kloss Video, Cambridge SoundWorks and Tivoli.
