Kukri. A fine presentation Gurkha kukri of the 8th Gurkha Rifles, the 38cm curved steel blade with brass and aluminium grip, 49cm overall, in its highly ornate silver-cover scabbard, impressed ‘Presented by Gurkha Officers 2/8th G.R.’, detailed with lions and foliate scrolls with yellow metal floral square, inset with red and blue stone cabuchons (possibly regimental colours), with related cap badge. Presented to a British Officer by the 2nd Battalion in 1947 when Indian independence caused the Nation to be split into India/Pakistan which caused the Gurkha regiments to disband. (2)
