Second edition, after the London one of the previous year, posthumous works by the famous professor at the University of Bologna, considered the father of microscopic anatomy and animal and plant artifacts, among the most acute investigative spirits of his century."The first section consists largely of correspondence arising out of Malpighi's published works, on the viscera, heart polyps, silkworms, anatomy of plants and animals, helminthology, &c... The 2nd section is in Italian and Latin in parallel cols. and contains... Malpighi's work... in defence of the newer studies in anatomy against Liparo's Galenistarum triumphum... The 3rd section... is Malpighi's De structura glandularum conglobatarum..."
