The hypersonic rocket-powered X-15, a Mach 6 follow up to the Bell X-2, would go on to make history, setting speed and altitude records, becoming the first aircraft to fly into outer space and being flown by pilots such as future astronauts Neil Armstrong and Joe Engle. The present model, made by RetroRocket, reproduces the rare original proposal model for a Mach 8 scramjet-powered X15A-3 follow up, which was never built.
