The nickname derives from his childhood home of Oswaldtwistle, a town in the Hyndburn borough of Lancashire, England. Ossie's designs were very influential in the late 1960s through the mid-1970s. The dress worn by Peter Gabriel on the Genesis album, Foxtrot, is an Ossie design.
