London 1762-1816. 4 vols., without Supplement, large folio, nineteenth-century dark green half morocco gilt, t.e.g., by Upham & Beet, joints and extremities worn, some slight dampstaining. FIRST EDITION, engraved portrait of Stuart, dated 1789, as frontispiece for vol. I and repeated in vol. II, engraved frontispiece portrait of Revett in vol. IV, Faden's folding map of Greece, 1790, colored in outline in vol. III, 316 engraved views, plans, charts and diagrams, occasionally folding or double page, numerous engraved vignettes, without plate 29 from vol. II, chap. I (also not present in the Fowler and other copies). "This work was of great importance in spreading the knowledge of Greek architecture, and was the source book for the later Greek revival in England"---Fowler 340.
