Cincinnati (OH): J.A. James & Co., 1836. 12mo, dark green cloth boards, paper label affixed to spine, 336pp. Missing map [these maps were often removed, and occasionally appear on the market separately]. Rear fep with pencil notes on Mexican measurements (eg. 5 sitios = 1 hacienda = 22.14 2/10 acres = 1,000,000 square varas - is 1 "labor") This would have been just after Texan independence, and, having just won their freedom from Mexico, most Texans (or those with power) preferred American immigrants to Mexican ones, and encouraged immigrants in an effort to secure its status. Condition: Scattered foxing. Toning of page edges. Boards are coming off, but text block still together. Ffep detached, present.
