Aware that MGM was about to release its motion picture of The Wizard of Oz , Thompson returned to the cast of the first Oz Book for her nineteenth volume in the popular series. The publishers too recognized the importance of tying the new book in with the movie and printed “The Wizard of Oz” in dominant letters on the cover.
