Beschreibung:

Lot of 21 sixth plate portraits of children, consisting of 13 daguerreotypes, 7 ambrotypes, and 1 tintype, housed in pressed paper or thermoplastic cases. Of the six thermoplastic cases, three feature geometric designs and three feature floral designs, among which are Flowers in a Fancy Vase [2-45] and the "Scarce" Basket of Flowers [2-40S] and Fan of Cornucopias 2 [1-133], as catalogued in Berg. Highlights include daguerreotypes of a young boy by Germon; a girl in a patterned dress standing beside a table draped with a tinted cloth; and a boy wearing plaid pants and holding a book or cased image; as well as a close-format ambrotype portrait of little boy with a prominent curl at his forehead, identified as William Howard Hill "taken about 1855 at age of four years."
