Two 17th century English jetton tokens. Consisting of a William III jetton with the obverse depicting a draped bust and reading WILHEIM III ANGLIA REX and the reverse with the four crowned shields of England, France, Ireland and Scotland alternating with four capital Ws and reading IOHANN WEIDINGERS RECHIE COVNTER together with a jetton dated 1667 with the obverse depicting a shield with scales and reading IAMES WRIGHT 1667 and the reverse struck to the centre with the initials W.I.D. and reading BAKER IN REDRIF, Redrif being an early version of the name Rotherhithe in London. 0.7 in (1.9 cm) diameter, 0.6 in (1.5 cm) diameter. (2 items) Provenance: This lot came from The Ronald Goode collection at the Pumphouse Educational Museum in Rotherhithe. The Museum housed a fascinating private collection of artifacts discovered on the Thames foreshore in Rotherhithe along with an interesting collection of Peak Freans biscuit factory items which once existed locally in the area. The later collection also included a magnificent six foot iced replica of Queen Elizabeth II's wedding cake with a letter of thanks from Elizabeth II which was on permanent exhibit at The Pumphouse Museum.
