(Small repair to outer margin of title, single wormhole in title and *4.) 19th-century blue morocco with gilt arms of J. Gomez de Cortina, Marquis de Morante on covers, his cipher in each corner (extremities slightly rubbed). Provenance: J. Gomez de Cortina (green morocco gilt armorial bookplate and binding). Second edition of Boissard's work on the inhabitants of Parnassus, which was first published in 1601. Of the original 25 plates, 19 are designed and engraved by de Bry and 6 are engraved by Robert Boissard following designs by Jean-Jacques Boissard The second series of 8 unsigned plates, described by the author in his dedication, were added for this edition.
