American (Kentucky), 1882-1892. An ebonized wood cane with gold-plated handle engraved "Judge J.R. Morton / from the / Woodford County Bar / Oct. 14th 18(8 or 9)2"; lg. 35.5 in. Judge Jeremiah Rogers Morton was born on February 10. 1842. He fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Soon after the war was over, he studied at the Law School of Kentucky University. He served in many elected positions in Lexington and Woodford County.
