The reference 1680 was first introduced in 1967 and the run ended in approximately 1979/80, it is the very first Submariner with a date complication, now officially known as the Submariner Date. The present example is a "White Submariner" fitted with the Mark 1 dial, featuring closed 6's, the "SUBMARINER" line being the same width as the depth rating line and the 'L' in Rolex is perfectly in the middle under the Rolex coronet logo. Additionally, the tritium on its hour markers and hands has developed a creamy patina over the years, making this timepiece an excellent example of the first iteration of the "White Submariner and of the Submariner Date.
